Physical Education

Children are expected to wear their PE kit to school on their PE days. If your child cannot take part in PE, we need a signed letter confirming the reason/reasons why. Please make ensure your child has the appropriate PE kit.

English and Science activities will uploaded onto Education City on Fridays to be completed by the following Thursday. English activities will be set weekly and Science will be set fortnightly. Maths homework will continue to be set on Mathletics. Your child’s Education City and Mathletics passwords will stay the same as they had in year 2.

Word Walls and Number Bond cards will be continued from Year 2 and will be changed as the children bring them back to school indicating they are ready to be tested.

If you require a paper copy of the homework, please ask your child’s teacher.

Spellings are given out every half-term. The children are tested every Friday. The spelling book will be sent home so that you can keep track of how your child is doing. Please help us by making sure that your child brings their Spelling Test book back to school on Mondays.

Below is a suggested reading list to support you and your child’s decision on what books to read. We encourage children to read a range of text and promote enjoyment of reading.

Your child will bring home a reading book every school night based on our Accelerated Reader scheme. Please encourage your child to read at home as much as they can. Please could you listen to your child read, discuss the book with them as well as ask questions to help build their comprehension skills. Please indicate in their reading record when they have read.

Children are asked to read at home 5 times a week. They receive a certificate each week if they read at least 4 times! An adult will check and initial their reading record every day but the children are encouraged to change their book themselves.

 Working together

At the Bedonwell Federation we are passionate about working as a team with parents and carers to support the learning and wellbeing of every child. If you have any questions, queries or information that you wish to discuss with us, please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s class teacher or the Head of Year. You can leave a message at the school office, write a note in your child’s reading journal or speak to the member of staff at the end of the school day.

We look forward to working with you and your child this year.
